Red Carpet Ready

The Webby Awards are the Internet’s highest honor, with categories for everything from Mobile Apps to Podcasts to Digital Streaming. Novel Effect took home the Webby for Best Mobile Integrated Experience:

The Novel Effect Team celebrated with the best and the brightest from across the Internet Monday night at the 22nd Annual Webby Awards. The Webby Awards are the Internet’s highest honor, with categories for everything from Mobile Apps to Podcasts to Digital Streaming. Novel Effect took home the Webby for Best Mobile Integrated Experience:

The Webby Awards are known for the 5-word acceptance speeches. Novel Effect showed the power of voice by creating a 5 word story using only onomatopoeia, accompanied by voice interactive sound effects and music. We hope you enjoy:

Best in Business Bronze Winner!

Novel Effect is pleased to have been named a Bronze Winner for Start Up of the Year in this year’s Best in Biz awards.

Novel Effect has been named a Bronze winner in Start Up of the Year in Best in Biz Awards, the only independent business awards program judged each year by prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications in North America.

“Amazing variety in the finalists in Best in Biz Awards this year,” said Christopher Null, Wired, returning to judge the awards for the sixth year. “It was incredibly difficult to pick a winner!”

Each year, Best in Biz Awards’ entrants span the spectrum, from some of the most innovative local start-ups to the most recognizable global brands. The seventh annual program was particularly hotly contested, with more than 650 entries from an impressive array of public and private companies of all sizes and from a variety of industries and geographic regions in the U.S. and Canada. Best in Biz Awards 2017 honors were presented in 65 categories, including Company of the Year, Fastest-Growing Company, Executive of the Year, and Website of the Year.

Novel Effect Goes to Shark Tank!

We launched Novel Effect just over two years ago, to help every parent unlock the magic hidden between the pages of a favorite book. This summer, co-founders Matt and Melissa Hammersley had the chance to pitch our family focused, voice interactive reading app to the Sharks, including guest Shark and founder of Spanx, Sara Blakely. Exciting news! We’ve been selected as one of the nine companies for Amazon’s first Alexa Accelerator, Powered by Techstars. We start this week and will be spending the next three months hard at work.

Here’s what CEO Matt has to say: “We are ecstatic to join forces with Amazon’s Alexa Accelerator and Techstars to scale our unique experience worldwide. It’s a real thrill. The vision of Novel Effect and the Alexa Accelerator is a perfect fit to bring new voice-activated entertainment to a global scale.”

The program culminates on October 17th with a Demo Day, where we will present to investors, mentors, technology leaders and community. It’s a really cool honor to be able to say that we’re Novel Effect, powered by Techstars.
