My favorite part of the holiday season are the traditions we revisit year after year. Our family crowding around the dinner table to enjoy grandma’s famous mac and cheese recipe, driving around with warm blankets and a thermos of hot chocolate to see the neighborhood lights. This season is all about spending time together and doing things we love with the ones we love.
Growing up, Matt’s family had a tradition where they were allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve. Every year it was the same – a new pair of pajamas. They’d change into their new jammies and snuggle into bed, eagerly waiting for Santa to arrive. And now that Eleanor is old enough to understand Christmas, I’m excited to make Matt’s family’s Christmas Eve tradition our own!
This year after we enjoy Christmas Eve spaghetti dinner, a tradition from my own childhood, our little ones will open their matching jammies as well as a new book. They will be books to enjoy all year round, but we’ll read them together for the first time when we tuck them in that night, after “The Night Before Christmas” with Novel Effect, of course. It’s a tradition we’ve been able to enjoy since Eleanor’s first Christmas in 2015, the year we started Novel Effect. This year it will be even sweeter to share that tradition with Max, who joined our family this summer.
We know the season can move fast, but we invite you to join us and slow down together with a holiday favorite like “The Night Before Christmas” (free e-book in our app). We love seeing happy readers in action! It would be a great gift to us if you headed over to our Facebook page and shared a picture or video of your family reading with Novel Effect!
Happy holidays from all of us at Novel Effect,
